Thread: XModMap help

    Default XModMap help

I have a new keyboard to help my RSI. I need to swap Left arrow cursor with Delete.

    I type:

:~> xmodmap -pke | grep Del
    keycode 91 = KP_Delete KP_Decimal KP_Delete KP_Decimal
keycode 119 = Delete NoSymbol Delete

~> xmodmap -pke | grep Left
    keycode 23 = Tab ISO_Left_Tab Tab ISO_Left_Tab
    keycode 83 = KP_Left KP_4 KP_Left KP_4
keycode 113 = Left NoSymbol Left

I've tried various combinations of xmodmap -e to no avail. Would really appreciate a hand.

    In order to persist my

    Code:
    ~/Xmodmap,
I've added a line to my

    Code:
    ~/.bashrc
I'm happy with my new solution, but it does mean I have to open a terminal to effect my modified key layout. I've read the xmodmap is deprecated in favour of XKB X11.
I've spent a while trawling the vast array of information and suggestions already available for such a fix. I'm wondering if anyone has a precise SUSE fix that I can use to effect my
    change?

My version of Linux is : SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop, x86 & x86-64
I use a UK keyboard layout, and this is the 104 key version.

    Thanks!

Then you are at the wrong forums. These are the openSUSE forums, not the SLES/SLED forums. The SUSE LInux forums are at: https://forums.suse.com/forum.php
