Default Is Zoneminder a viable alternative to Blue Iris?

I am building a video surveillance dvr and would like to use linux software if possible.
I plan on using either openSUSE 13.2 or 13.1(for long term support).
I have not found any current reviews of Zoneminder and one review before the Nov, 2014 update mentioned it had problems with megapixel ip cameras.
Any information you can provide me will be appreciated.

Default Re: Is Zoneminder a viable alternative to Blue Iris?

I have used zoneminder in the past (last year), just for testing purposes at my home. I found that it worked very well, I honestly could not tell the difference between it and the commercial windows software that came with my pci camera card.

    Hope this is helpful.
