Default Printing source code with kate editor

    Hi All,

I'm having problems printing well formatted C++ source code with kde kate editor. All programming editors use themes to make keywords stand out, I just want to print out in black and white, not greyscale. Also, kate seems to set the margins really badly.

I have tried inserting the source code in openoffice using a mono font, but if you try to had comments eg '//' it messes up the formatting.

I had no idea I was going to have problems getting printouts of source code, anyone have any ideas for kate or any tips at all?

    Thanks for any help.

    Just print it with lp?

It is the print command existing already long before anybody knew what the acronym GUI might stay for.

If you have a HP printer, use the Device Manager to change the default setting to greyscale. In fact the KDE printer dialogue that pops up when you print with Kate offers you a greyscale option under Options and a margins option under Properties.

Tools/Highlighting/None seems to work for me.

Others probably provided answers for your text highlighting.
lp is probably a good "solve everything" recommendation that won't apply any new formatting
If you still want to use a Desktop text editor like Kate and still have a "margins" problem, you'd probably have to describe what you're seeing better or post a screenshot... but I'd guess you are maybe describing a word wrapping? (If so, you should be able to turn it off).
