Thread: Knotes do not survive Restart

  1. #1

Default Knotes do not survive Restart

    Opensuse 13.2.

I use knotes to store notes that I refer to often. When all is well I see my list of notes when I click on the the yellow icon in the tray. This all worked perfectly for years prior to Opensuse 13.

But since 13.2 when once in a blue moon I have to restart my machine the notes are gone after the restart. Yet I can see the note files in the file system at .local/share/notes/new like this:

    270f:~/.local/share> tree notes
    notes
    ├── cur
    ├── new
    │ ├── 1423429589.R318.HPE-270f
    │ ├── 1423593419.R985.HPE-270f
    │ └── 1426519919.R703.HPE-270f
    └── tmp

This is a real pain. It's like the existing notes are no longer linked to the yellow icon.
What can be done about this?

Not sure if it's the same problem, but I see something like this once in a while too (1 out of 20 boots or so).

Seems to be a timing problem when knotes is started and Akonadi is not running yet.

Restarting Akonadi should make knotes aware of your notes again:
    Code:
    akonadictl restart
If that doesn't help, quit knotes and restart it.
Do you see your notes then?

"akonadictl restart" had no affect. I mean that the notes did not come back after this one step.
But then I restarted Knotes and the notes are back!

So I am not sure if I needed both steps or just the latter. The next time I restart the machine I will see.

For now all is good. Thanks for your help.

    Probably only the latter then.

It's been a while since I had to do this.
