Default Disabled user. Help for screen reader by voice

I have been asked to help a brain injured person (stroke) to recover use of computer. As he cannot visually see or interpret the whole screen, can any one advise me if there is a screen reader application within OpenSUSE?
I have tried Knoppix Adriane and it works as a screen reader but the voice speed is uncontrollable.
    Any disabled help inside OpenSuse?
Your kind help is appreciated and I thank you inadvance for your replies.

I have the feeling that you will find more disabled people on the mail
list, because it is easier for them to handle email than a web forum.
Just a guess, but I know some one with limited or no sight in the mail list.

There are some tools, but I'm not familiar with them. I think it is Orca.

There is support - Carlos mentions Orca, which is a GNOME-based screen
reader. There also is support for braille displays as well (I spent some
time doing research on that, though never set one up) if that's an option.

Start by looking at Orca and see if it meets the user's needs.
