Default Single-click in GTK apps dialogs under KDE4?

    openSUSE 13.2 64bit, KDE 4.14.3

KDE file dialogs (open, save, etc.) allow me to navigate folders with one click (for example, KWrite Saveas dialog box).

In GTK applications (GIMP, subtitleeditor, etc) under KDE4 I have to click twice to open a folder in the file dialog.

System-settings>appearance>GTK is set to oxygen-gtk (GTK2) and Adwaita (GTK3) themes.

Is there a way to set one-click on GTK?

    TIA,

    Bruno

I also find it irritating that some Applications (like Gimp) do not work like they should in an X environment. Not only irritating, but also RSI creatiing

isn't this build in the gtk+ libraries, what exists in qt (kde) does not have to be implemented in gtk+ (gnome)

a simple google search revealed this (might not work)
    try gconf-editor
    find
    /desktop/gnome/peripherals/mouse/
there should be a single_click key try changing it's value

    but...

Thanks, I_A, I've seen that in a Ubuntu thread IINM.
Unfortunately there's no such key in the gnome registry thing in my KDE system. Under /desktop/gnome/ there's only one entry, url-handlers.
I suppose you need a full gnome install for it, and from the bug report you linked it may not even work then.

Really, you'd think a basic thing like choosing between single or double-click would be, well, basic... Even in windows it's easy to choose.

But I'm starting to think there's no way to do this.

Besides, the RMI/RSI concern hccv mentioned is very real. I've had it, had to use a wrist restraint for many months, years ago.
Postural reeducation, a mousepad with wrist rest and single-clicking helped a lot.

It may be simple, but you need gnome desktop to really access the
choices. Same as I need KDE installed to be able to configure KDE
behaviour from inside Gnome or XFCE.

    Just install it.

Start gnome, configure it, then exit, and start kde again...

I don't have gnome installed and I don't think this is a big issue, but did you guys read the gnome bug report, it basically states that this is a known bug in gnome yet to be fixed, and that single click only works in nautilus not with the file selector... so don't waste your time.
