Default Firefox crashing/freezing when playing flash videos

    Hi guys.

As the title of the thread states - i have an issue of firefox horribly freezing when running flash videos (like YT, for example). I searched some other threads, but their problem is mostly related to nvidia. But i don't have an nvidia, but an integrated intel graphics.

    running: 13.2 w KDE.

    Kind regards,
Running openSUSE Leap 42.3 + KDE

I'm not having a problem here (Integrated Intel graphics).

I do use "flashblock" so flash only plays when I allow it. Of course I do allow it for YT videos.

Hmm, doesn't YT use "html5" these days?

Not sure if always, because it sometimes asks me for flash.

But in most cases, yes, it worked without installing flash. Maybe, i'll try being flashless

    Hmm.

I have been running with Flash turned off for decades, turn it on only for specific things I need to.

I never flash anything or anyone without being forced to.

Not seeing any issues here running flash in 13.2 KDE with intel integrated graphics (GMA X4500) (no flashblock)
Youtube only uses the HTML5 player if you have opted into using it - otherwise flash player is still the default.
    You can opt in here

Hi, the stock 3.16.6 kernel has problems with DRI (direct rendering) on some integrated Intel graphics (including my 965GM and maybe yours).
If you can run with DRI disabled, disable it and everything works, including Flash.
If not, try to boot in "recovery mode" (advanced options in the Grub menu), this disables DRI temporarily, go to a page with a flash video, right-click on it, then "settings" then "disable video accelleration".
This disables acceleration in flash only. Reboot normally, flash should run normally.
I would also check if Flash player is updated to the 11.2.202.425 version.

There is an upcoming kernel update that solves problems with Intel integrated graphics.
If you can't wait, there is a test version here
Even with this new kernel I have to disable acceleration in flash, but videos play with no problems anyway.
