If you install the rpm version, yes, it might install some extra
dependencies. But not all of them, or you would not have to install
those 32 bit libraries yourself.

I would not call skype “freedom”, au contraire
It is just a necessity when people you need talking to use it. There are
really free alternatives. It is possible to encrypt the conversation end
to end, under your control… but not trivially.
