Thread: Cartes du Ciel (SkyCharts) installation?

Smile Cartes du Ciel (SkyCharts) installation?

Was wondering if anyone has installed this program and got it running. I've had it running with no issues using the *deb (using Ubuntu etc.) and the *rpm ( Fedora,Mageia) but need some assistance in getting it to run in Opensuse 13.1. Not all rpm files are all the same
and I know there are differences between Fedora and Suse with file dependencies etc. I'm using a 64-bit version of Suse 13.1 with Nvidia video driver on my system. Sourceforge.net has rpm files and tar.xz files of the program. When I extract them both to their respected folders I am lost as to who to do next. The tar.xz program is composed of binary files. The rpm program I believe needs to have cmake to run and repackage some of the files? I installed cmake-gui and ran the program with the rpm folder but am lost as to what the outcome was supposed to create and do. (I suspect it is similar to /configure /make /make-install ) not sure. Any help would be appreciated in getting this program to install and run in OpenSuse 13.1. Thanks. . .

I am also having problems in stalling it. I used zypper to install from the 64 bit rpm files and keep getting errors due to no libjpeg available. I used yast to search for libjpeg and found and installed libjpeg62 but this does not resolve the problem. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks

Default AW: Cartes du Ciel (SkyCharts) installation?

Instead of libjpeg, the Package is named libjpeg-turbo.

I have build a dummy-Package of libjpeg, it writes libjpeg to the rpm Database and install libjpeg-turbo as dependencies.
    You can download it here
    http://download.opensuse.org/reposit...me:/Sauerland/

Skychart will then install and works without issues.
    Code:
    zypper se -si skychart

    S | Name | Typ | Version | Arch | Repository
    --+----------+-------+-----------+--------+-----------
    i | skychart | Paket | 3.11-3015 | x86_64 | Programme
