I have installed factory and which created the directory: /boot/efi/EFI/opensuse

I want to install (dual boot) openSUSE 13.1. However, (I think, not yet having tried the install) doing so will wipe out the existing factory directory of /boot/efi/EFI/opensuse and replace it by a similar named directory based on openSUSE 13.1.
This problem is discussed in bug report: https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=854353

The suggested solution I like is to create 2 subdirectories e.g.
/boot/efi/EFI/opensuse/factory
/boot/efi/EFI/opensuse/13.1

Is there anything else related to this I should be aware of?

Also, is there anyway to keep openSUSE 13.1 from running "grub-mkconfig" during its installation? I would prefer to run it in factory.
