Well, tomorrow its Christmas eve! The big day in some Scandinavian country’s.

I'm very pleased with my ownCloud installation. Today (after a backup of course) I made a zypper dup on that VM and rebooted. This time of year Its time (once a year, -its free) to get a new license-key for my Axigen Linux mail (and calendering/collaboration..) server. I did a update from 8.1.0 to 8.2.0 as well (~2 minutes) shut down and as I wrote the Virtualbox VM seems to need more RAM.

Well Christmas soon, wrong time to be cheap. I gave the VM another cpu-core (now 2) and +1024GB (now 2048) of RAM.

Before the upgrade I had 20-30Mb/s by my lan when syncing at home using the kitchen network socket (served by a 10/100 switch) and:

After the upgrade it was hitting the limit of 100Mb/s. Probably I will try to take away 1 cpu core next reboot and see:

    Well new year. 2 things.

-as all know by now.. Win. I had a Sony Vaio here that I helping a old friend with. After some usual and well known trouble shouting I gave up.

Download a legal Windows7 home premium in Swedish? No. Download win7 prof Swe and use some tools to adjust the iso so that I could chose the version of win7 to install.

While waiting I booted it(Sony Vaio) up on a usb-stick containing openSUSE-13.2-KDE-Live-x86_64.iso. All what I could see was working. Ethernet. WiFi. Fn buttons..

After 6,5 hours from the start and have loaded drv for the Ethernet card and 177 updates (958MB) I'm nowhere near a functional Win7 PC that I would give back to the user.

    What could I say?

-SQL and ownCloud. "wwwuser" and have access to external sources (external HD's, NFS shares). Hmmm.. I have configured a solution that’s works but have doubts. On the other hand when searching the net nobody have a clear solution. I will get back about this.

    regards

Well it started yesterday evening (forgot the AC-adapter to my Laptop workhorse at work). Ok a laptop from 2008 and the battery.. Lets have a look upon my HW storage at home. A docking station. Looks like holes at the bottom.. Why not try to... And there it is on the wall. Including a small keybord/toutchpad that works 100% and a external monitor and speakers.

Have both a iPad2 and a Android tablet so.. But what about me and have some fun? Anyway the kitchen are about 1.5 months away from renovation.

I'm very pleased with my ownCloud function . In my tests I have tried with different groups to set rights on remote (home here) NFS servers. I got it working with r/w/e (set on users level) but at the same time I crashed my sql for digikam on my main server.

    Digikam have some serious problems.

Do as I do, - at myself and my.. I can't help it.

Regarding Android apps on Linux, I read that there is a means to do so on OMG! Ubuntu, though that is a hack.

How to Install Android Apps on Ubuntu using ARChon (Updated)

Google recently announced the first set of Android apps available to run natively on Chrome OS, a feat made possible using a new ‘Android Runtime’ extension.
Now, a developer has figured out a way to bring Android Apps to Chrome on the desktop.

Vlad Filippov‘s chromeos-apk script and ARChon Android Runtime extension work hand-in-hand to bring Android apps to Chrome on the Windows, Mac and Linux desktop.
May not be the speediest, easiest or most stable but it is stepping in the right direction.

Meanwhile Gnome and Unity seem to be focused on converging the desktop and web applications. They may not be Android apps per-se but are steps in a similar direction.

How hard can it to be to uninstall a application? Start over with new and fresh default setting for the
    for the application!

    Geeesss..

Its about to break the code, the thinking behind of developers/packagers. Oh yes I can understand when
leaving tracks everywhere on the disk in order to:
    -easier upgrading of a application
    -easier reinstall of a application
But that gives problems for someone like me. I have been going nuts about digikam sins October 2014 when I started to have problems with it.
Ok delete digikam by yast2, delete ./kde/share/apps/digikam/.. But no. When have the actual (sqlite/mysql) db
no longer avadibale digikam refuse to start.
Ok after a whole lot of searching I have to delete/change ./kde/share/config/digikam as well.

Digikam 4.6.0(came in by zypper dup)? No mysql support any longer? You dont have the alternative any longer to chose. I read on the official and its noted that some binary packages is not compiled whit the flag, mysql=yes. Thanks. Crashed my setup at home with mysql on a remote server.

Follow the instructions on digikam site (and others) and had a look upon a lot alternatives on net to compile my own 4.6.0 and mysql flag on.
    I tried. Above my paygrade.

    Downgraded to Digikam 4.4.0.

Next weekend I will have a look upon mysql again and digikam storage on a remote server.

Oooolalalaaaaa I'm in love! Had a happening with food and drinks yesterday (Friday). It started earlier in yesterday when I checked up that chrome was still working to run android apps. I Notice that Chromium can run you tube/flash full size video on a single monitor(in a 2-monitor setup) while the other monitor was unaffected and I could run applications separately. Running applications that not break the full screen videos on the other monitor.

Haven’t seen this with Firefox or Chrome browser.

A photo, to the left vlc and a video file playing ., To the right "fullscreen" www-browser. Very civil, No mix of sound even if the videos playing in different monitors. The sound came came from the active monitor. Its "Led Zeppelin" music on both monitors.

(oS 13.2, kde and the excellent AMD APU A-3850 and amd-native-drivers).

Hmm.. Was reading about upcoming election to openSUSE bord. Did the same thing as last year. Who are aloud to vote? Still I did not get any wiser this year. Opensusemember? Ok. Lizards blog..

I thinking of why mysql is default to /var/mysql. Ok. Why not a small app that take care of moving the db's, pid's,sock's and adjust the relevant config files to another place where you can plan for a better disk use then /? I mean / is something you decide upon the 1:st install already. Oh yes I know how to do this manually. I learned.

Installed the 7: HD(WD 800GB green) in my basement server during the week. It was a disappointment. Saw on my backup that is was only delivering ~20-55MB/S. Mostly contained mysql contens and statical files.

Btrfs and.. I should have tested today to restore after a snapshot after that suggestion/installed from zypper and 100:rds of MB in updates.

My basement server(oS13.1) is running a Virtualbox, 13.1 server, SBS2013 Server, Win8.1 update for the moment. I have learn to use ssh. Cli. Ncurses yast and mc(?). Oh I learning. God. It (server) should do some for all the Wh it consumes.

Its - (minus) 15.6C outside and I went for a ride downtown yearly er today to buy some tobacco. My bi-cykle (7-gears Shimano) is frezing below -10C. I have learn to set a gear on the bike and stay whit it for the ride.

Dogs? I now that it wouldn’t be popular even if it would be 5-10 faster then me on a frozen bike to race them downtown and home.

A photo from a 1995 DE at home. Mostly MS.Some HP. Some Soun..

Ahh.. Just some thought on a sunday evening.

    Yes I know. Blog.

Or maybe some thoughts latest's months.

On one of my missions, -archive. They have original documents from 12/13 centenary. Protected by alarms, safe vaults, cooling rooms (for magnetic media ~+4C).

MS is fighting, allow free 180 days to test server versions. Win10 is going to be free the first 12months after release.

I did a live presentation for the border, showing that I have to be at location 05.00 to start MS update on the servers on a MS patch Tuesday.. Dl, install and reboot takes for ever. On the clients(win7) its solved whit 3rd part software.

I also asked the members to lay up their mobile phones on the table. 12 out of 14 was running Android (2 Iphones). Hmm.

MS has it place. I was showing 3 konsole windows on my laptop where I was running a zypper dup on the laptop(at location), my main server and one of my VM's at home. Rebooted.. Ahhh.. So fast was the comment . Uptime yes.
