Default How to pair an Apple Magic Trackpad

I am running OpenSUSE 13.1 on a Lenovo X1 Carbon 2014. I would like to use my Apple Magic Trackpad, but cannot figure out how to get it to pair. The Ubuntu instructions do not work.

    Thanks,
    Jim

More information is needed before anyone can help. (Otherwise we'd just be guessing.) Which desktop environment are you using? Can you tell the steps you took, and which command or step failed?

    I am using KDE.
    • I click the bluetooth icon and choose add device.
    • I turn on the magic trackpad. I have to click the on button several times before it is found
    • The wizard sits there "Please introduce the PIN into your device when it appears"
    • The known devices says "No supported services found" for the trackpad.

Try connecting using bluetoothctl (it migth help for diagnostic purposes).
    Code:
    bluetooth
    From the prompt, type
    Code:
    # devices
This should list devices in range, including your Magic Trackpad. Try connecting to it (using MAC address)
    Code:
    connect xx.xx.xx.xx.xx.xx
If you are prompted for a pin, enter '0000'. The connection status should be reported. All good?

Even if not connected, the following command should report the bluetooth capabilities reported by the device
    Code:
    info xx.xx.xx.xx.xx.xx
Post back with any relevant output captured by bluetoohctl.

It says "attempting to connect to 40:a6:....
    Failed to connect. org.bluez.Error.Failed

It does not work for the Apple bluetooth mouse either. In fact, it crashes KDE every time!

    Good to know.

I might also be worth trying to pair/connect using the Gnome BT manager (blueman) to compare behaviour...
