Thread: Separate Firefox tabs

  1. #1

    Default Separate Firefox tabs

    Hello everyone,
Firefox is very useful (openSUSE KDE too). But I want the task manager (or other Task manager) separate Firefox thumbnails into several tabs, not just the Windows. Any idea?
    Thanks a lot.

P/S: sorry if my topic is too short.

I'm not sure this is possible.
Pretty sure the answer is to open In New Window rather than NewTab

A very usefull thing to make it a bit longer is of course starting it (and every other one) with telling which version of openSUSE you use. And the same for Firfox in this case.

My purpose is just I work with another app, then switching to a arbitrary tab of Firefox quickly. I am very satisfied with openSUSE and Linux in general except this point.

I really don't understand want you want to do.

You want to run separate Windows for Firefox? instead of tabs?

You want the tabs to show as separate processes on the task bar?? This is pretty much imposable since the tabs are not separate processes (tasks) and the task bar deals in processes.

If you want to have several Internet pages available on the task bar you need to open them in separate windows. Then each window will show on the task bar

An alternative is to place a "Window list" widget on the task bar then use
that to select the FF instance you want. Works for instances in different
windows as well as multiple instances on a single page.

Well thanks for giving us the information on what versions of openSUSE and Firefox you are using.

Anyway if you want tabs running in separate processes you will have to wait for Firefox 36.0, or use an experimental build and help test e10s.

Mozilla plans to release Electrolysis (multi-process architecture) with Firefox 36 - gHacks Tech News

The building blocks are already in Firefox Nightly and can be tested. This post is posted using Nightly, but I do not have Electrolysis enabled.

If that isn't what you are looking for, sorry for the misinterpretation.

For instance, just 1 Firefox process but each tab will have its own preview (like Firefox in Windows).

One question though. Why are you @nvkhoi stubbornly refusing to tell the information you are asked for?

It is of course your own decission, but be prepared for people no more answering in your thread at all.

What I miss is a tab list in Firefox, perhaps just showing url and
tittle, clickable so that the wanted tab in whatever window gets the focus.
