    Default fresh13.1-32lispiron install- no wifi!

    hello

    the dual boot to vista works and has wifi. later i can connec tthe 13.1 to an eithernet wire.

    the 13.1 is running network manager. it doesn't seem to have a clue about the local wifi.

    any advice aboutgetting the 13.1wifi connection set up and working? heboland

    thanks lwfinger! it isn't often i do so many "don'tdos" at once!

    i'm fairly cli literate,so should be able to proceed ok from here.

    over vista i copied the wireless sticky's.

    im still waiting to connect up a wired connectio. heboland

    hello again list i'm back from the wireless stickieswith som cli results.

    one very big disappointmentwas to find that a wired connectiodidn't work either!

    if its easier to get a wired fwwithoutand inslallfw usinonnectivityg only the vistainternet connectivity!

    This device should actually be supported by the kernel without the need for installing an additional driver.
    But you need additional firmware, see here for how to get it:

    The wired driver is loaded. As wolfi323 says, from there it is only configuration.

    The stickies told you to look at dmesg output. That should have told you that
    firmware was missing.

    ihane been to the yast networksetup.is there some sort of tutorialfor this?

    alsoi saw where i could delete the installed drivers, but which ones?

    my impression at that timewas that i should have fw before deleting anything.
