Personally, I don't bother to check.
I use "dd_rescue" in linux to copy the iso to the USB, and its output seems to indicate that it is checking. But it is never clear whether it is check what is actually on the USB, or what is in system buffers waiting to be written to USB.
You could always read the exact number of bytes (determined by the ".iso" size) from the USB into a file, and then compare file.
Once you have booted the USB, you won't be able to check. On the first boot it makes changes, so as to setup persistent storage.
