Default SMF - Simple Machines Forum

Guys I have installed MySQL community server, PHP and PhpMyAdmin

I am trying to install SMF Simple Machines Forum.

I have created a username and given it permission to create databases and tables.

The Simple Machines install script installs without problems, then i try to create the Administration account and it gives me this error :

Data too long for column 'session_id' at row 1

I don't know what the problem is has anybody on here used SMF.

You installed all that and try all that on what?

We can realy not guess what version of openSUSE you are running.

At this point, this post also clearly belongs in the Applications forum, an app database issue almost certainly can't in any way be networking related...

BTW - With the meager information provided, my early guess is that the MySQL tables haven't been created, or created properly. Is often a requirement for these kinds of setups, the Project haven't gotten around to scripting the table creation or could be faulty.

    To the OP,
Besides describing the openSUSE version, you should also verify the requirements for your solution are installed and correct. So, code that might rely on MySQL 4 won't run properly on today's MySQL. Same thing for PHP versions, any other components.
