How can I type German umlaut characters and the German esset on an American English keyboard setup?
How can I type German umlaut characters and the German esset on an American English keyboard setup?
Type the "compose key" (Shift+Right Ctrl on my german keyboard layout, but it seems to be the same by default with an american layout), then press the modifier key and the key to be modified.
I.e. for umlaut o (ö), type this:
Shift+Right Ctrl, ", o
There also other modifier keys, like `, ~, ', for getting characters like ò, õ and ó f.e.
PS, for "ß" type Shift+Right Ctrl, s, s.
