Thread: VLC Player Wont Play DVDs

    Default VLC Player Wont Play DVDs

    I'm using Opensuse 13.1 and the vlc player wont play any dvds. Any clues how I can fix this?

    Did you select the right choice in the "open disc" menu?

    Did you do the multi-media installation as documented in the first sticky thread on this multi-media forum?

    But if you follow that particular guide, you still have to install "vlc-codecs" manually afterwards.
    Enter YaST->Software Management and install it there, when YaST asks always select "install xxx (with vendor change)".

    tried that nothing comes up in the search.

    You need to add the Packman repo to your system.

    Either use one of the 1-click installs in the site where hcvv linked to, or enter YaST->Software Repositories, click on "Add", choose "Community Repositories" and add the "Packman Repository" there.

    Afterwards you _should_ find vlc-codecs in YaST->Software Management.

    i found it and all now vlc wont even open up

    Whnever a GUI program does not realy start to satisfaction, you better start it from the terminal because you then will see the messages:
