Default No wifi after name change in YAST

    Hi,

I'm using openSuse 13.1, i was installing MATLAB which annoyingly requires for me to change the network adapter name to "eth0" in order for the license manager to work, I did the name change through YAST, and know I don't have any wifi, the option under the top right hand side to select wifi networks is no longer there. How can i fix this? and then how can i change the adapter name without this isse?

    Thanks,

    hi xdonu,

a similar problem was encountered on an hp-625, no wireless after name change via yast,
possibly your last update was incomplete

quickest solution found here was to re-install from dvd, (~ 30 minutes lost),
    to re-establish wireless set-up

    observation,
wired network default is enp1s0 on 13.1, supprised your's is eth0

    sorry not much help

this problem has not been seen on other laptops

    Hi,

That was my default name the "enp1s0" but i manually change it to "eth0" because i need it to be that way for the license manager of a program to work. I was a afraid about the reinstall, but eve if i do it, how can i change it to eth0 without this problem?

maybe you can add an vlan "eth0" using your card enp1s0.... not sure if it works, but that's an idea.

There is a setting that can be made to a systemd config file that will
keep the old naming of the interfaces. I don't use it so you will need
to search the archives for the answer.
    No need to re-install.
