Thread: A question on zypper

    Default A question on zypper

    I've install openSUSE 13.1 and followed through Multi-media and Restricted Format Installation Guide.

    If I were to use openSUSE with fluxbox, I believe the application for autoupdate of packages is not available.

    In order to keep openSUSE up to date, should I be using :

    zypper ref && zypper update

    or

    zypper ref && zypper patch

    to simulate the default effect of using the autoupdate?

    You do not need to call "zypper ref" manually, unless you disabled
    automatic refresh. It is redundant.

    What apper does is similar to "zypper up". Or yast package manager,
    display list, right click, update if newer.
