Thread: openSUSE 12.3 Google Chrome Latest (Version 32.0.1700.107) Hacked?

Default openSUSE 12.3 Google Chrome Latest (Version 32.0.1700.107) Hacked?

I don't know if this is the right place to post, but I have run into a situation with Chrome (Version 32.0.1700.107) on openSUSE 12.3 desktop. I was in hotmail and inadvertently hit ctrl++ a couple times and saw a message overlaid on one of the menus (...) that "Phishing Scam My friend's been hacked!" I have updated to the most current nVidia geForce driver and applied all the openSUSE patches - message is still there. The message only appears on hotmail website, at 150%+ magnification, not with winxp/chrome or with the opensuse konqueror browser.

    Any help appreciated.

Chrome has a built-in magnifier option, which you've triggered. In the
omnibox, there's usually an icon (looks like a magnifying glass IIRC)
that you can click and use to reset to the default. Or press CTRL+- a
couple times to make it smaller.

If that's not the issue, maybe grab a screenshot of it and post it to
paste.opensuse.org, then link to it from here so we can see what you mean.

That's very strange - never seen this before.

If you do this in an incognito window, do you still see this under the
    same circumstances?

What extensions do you have installed?

    I found this:

    http://www.computerweekly.com/news/2...s-been-hacked-
    Microsoft-beefs-up-Hotmail-security-to-stop-account-hijacking

Looks like it's a Microsoft Hotmail "Feature".

Given that, I'm not surprised it doesn't work properly with Linux
browsers in general (and Chrome in particular), as MS has never been well
known for following W3C standards - in their mind, if it works with IE,
then it works. It probably looks just fine in IE.

That looks like it - the Help ... appears when I use IE8 on win/xp and zoom up to 150%. Fooled me - not a hack after all! (Good news!)
