Thread: PRO/Wireless dead after update?

  1. #1

    Default PRO/Wireless dead after update?

After installing OpenSUSE 13.1, wireless worked perfectly. After a major update, I noticed that the connection was dropping. I went into Network Settings and saw "firmware next to PRO/Wireless". I didn't take much notice then, but very shortly after the connection dropped completely.

I did reinstall thinking the problem would be magically fixed

I'm not too sure what my next steps should be, and would be very grateful for any help.
Although both of us are getting on in years, this little beauty is my workhorse and we travel everywhere together.

    Thank you,

The message says that your hardware switch has been set to the KILL, or off,
    position. Switch it back.

That's the problem. The switch is on, as I've learned from bitter experience to always check.

So, can you check status with
    Code:
    /usr/sbin/rfkill list
*You will need to install rfkill package if command not found

Thank you so much. I installed the rfkill package, rebooted and now I'm up and running.

    Thank you and best wishes
