    In the wireless forum are some stickies that tell you how to determine what card
    you have (make/model is useless). It will also tell you how to check for missing
    firmware and a host of other situations.

    If you are just using this at home then I highly recommend that you switch over to a powerline adapter if at all possible. I did so for my desktop and have been so happy with the improved reliability of my connection, plus you never have to deal with the annoying bugs that come with usb wifi adapters. Look into it!
