Default Brightness adjustment fails. ( from the keyboard )

Hi guys and thank you for your attention.

Currently I have to open power settings to change the brightness of my screen. If I try to use the "funcntion" key to access this functionality the visualization appears but doesn't successfully changes the brightness bar in the visualization nor it can change the brightness.

I'm using Gnome and a fresh install.

    Have a good one!

    Hi!
I'll use this thread instead of opening another one, since the problem is similar
openSUSE 13.1 - KDE 4.11.3 - Lenovo g500 (Intel celeron 1005M) --> brightness keys don't work, but I've got another issue: there's no brightness bar in "power settings", so right now I'm unable to change brightness, which by default is set to maximum.
    Any ideas?
    Thank you guys!

Since there's no reason to open another thread.

Dell Vostro 3560, came preinstalled with Ubuntu and brightness control works there. Radeon HD 7670 is the GPU, together with Intel HD 4000.
Installed openSUSE 13.1 KDE, updated, installed Catalyst.

GRUB boot options doesn't work, KDE does register the brightness function keys (others work just fine out of the box) but does not change the brightness. Same goes for power management applet. Xbacklight changes values but not the actually brightness.
Very similar situation to https://forums.opensuse.org/english/...rightness.html and https://forums.opensuse.org/english/...on-7520-a.html , if not the same.

Also, this works and does change the light levels on the screen.
    Code:
    echo 2000 > /sys/class/backlight/intel_backlight/brightness
    and the output of
    Code:
    ls /sys/class/backlight
    is
    Code:
    acpi_video0 acpi_video1 intel_backlight
So how do I redirect the KDE applet to target intel_backlight instead of whichever it targets now?

    Thanks.
