Thread: No xorg.conf file on my system?

  1. #1

Default No xorg.conf file on my system?

Why is it that I have an xorg.conf.install file but no xorg.conf file in my X11 subdirectory? I am researching the upgrading of my mga drivers for a Matrox Marvel G550 graphics adapter.

Normally an xorg.conf is not used anymore nowadays. X chooses automatically which driver and settings to use.
But if you create one it will be respected.

xorg.conf.install is a special config used for "recovery mode". It is created by the installer, hence the name.
