Default Unable to configure Tata Photon Plus in openSUSE 13.1

    Hey people,

I just started using openSUSE 13.1 (x64 bit GNOME) after some time in my laptop. I am running it virtually in vmware player 6.X.X. Now, when I tried using it in the live cd mode, it was running fine. I tried connecting to Internet through "Mobile Broadband" using an Indian ISP known as "Tata Photon" mine being "Tata Photon Plus". When I connected it in the live mode, it was detecting the device. After installing in the virtual machine, it has stopped recognizing the USB Mobile Broadband device altogether.

I am not able to detect my device in openSUSE 13.1. Please help!!

I have a Sony Vaio E Series laptop with:

    1.) Intel Core i5 processor 2.50 GHz
    2.) RAM 4 GB
    3.) Radeon Graphics card

Since this is a virtualization question please press the triangle
button(black) at the bottom of the post and ask the moderator to move it

No need to press the report button, I have seen it

This is CLOSED for the moment and will be moved to the Virtualization forum.

    Hello arjun_majumdar_suse,

As a mod I followed the suggestion to move your thread to the Vitualization forums because I thought that people knowing about and using virtualization would be of better help to your problem. Personaly I do not use virtualization, thus as a member I can not be of much help.

Re-reading your title and your post, it seems to me that mentioning the maker/type of your USB Mobile Broadband device could help. It seems to be the device that you have a problem with, but it is nowhere in your post. I should even have mentioned it in the title of my thread (if I had your problem), because I guess that that would be a better advertisement to your problem then the mentioning of your ISP.

    Hello,

The hardware of the USB device is "Huawei". The "Network Manager" icon is not appearing in the notification area. If i launch 'gnome-terminal' and type: "nm-applet", the icon still does not appear.

    Does this help now?

    Thanks
    Arjun
