Thread: I need help picking an app.

Default I need help picking an app.

This is a result of my looking for a Linux replacement for ITunes so as to be able do some of the things that ITunes does.
I took a recommendation of a cloud based app and have been looking around for one.
I looked at ICloud and found it lacking.
I also started testing OwnCloud but the client app did exactly nothing. The install was uneventful but when I tried to launch it, the icon would bounce around for a bit then nothing.
A shame cause it looked kinda what I am after
So this is what I want to do.

Host music files and contacts and to be accessed from:

    1) 2 PCs running openSuse 12.3 KDE
    2) An Iphone 5
    3) An IPad II
    4) A Samsung smartphone running Android.

The client app hopefully will have the ability to keep files in sync.

I am going to continue to test Own Cloud in hopes I can get the client to start working.

    thanks
    openSUSE 13.2

You could ask about that issue - maybe someone can help you determine
what's wrong. Launching apps from a terminal window often is useful
because you can see error messages that aren't otherwise displayed.

Something else you might look at, though, is btsync. I'm using it to
sync between android and Linux systems, and it works pretty well. Still
a work in progress, but no centralized server is needed, and on a local
    network, it's pretty quick.

IIRC they have an IOS app as well.
