Thread: Finding files under Gnome GUI

Default Finding files under Gnome GUI

Does anyone know how to search for files under Gnome (Opensuse 12.3 (64bit)?

The standard 'Files' utility apparently has no option to search recursively through the directories.

I have also tried using the 'locate' utility from a terminal but it refuses steadfastly to return the path of any file I am looking for.

For months I have patiently navigated through the directories to locate my files, so I am obviously too stupid to find out how the 'Files' thing works.

    cheers

    hn

    Install gnome-search-tool
    zypper in gnome-search-tool

after that press left win ==> type "search for files" without quotes .
That tool should do the job.

The hidden options in the tool can be enabled by clicking on "+ select
    for more options"

you are welcome. Now you need not "patiently navigate through the directories to locate your files". Njoy
