    Default Is there a screen shot tool in OPENSUSE 12.3?

    Hi,
    I often use screen shot copy program (Ctrl+P, or Snipper (?) in WIndows 7). With that image file, I can email or storage. Is there a similar tool in OPENSUSE?

    Thanks,

    Press PrtSc and it will all happen for you

    If you use kde it will open a dialogue which is self explanatory
    In gnome I think it save the snapshot immediately to your Pictures folder. But you can start the screenshot application from the applications menu and get a similar dialogue to that in kde

    Hi
    Press the prt sc button? In GNOME there is the gnome-screenshot tool, but you don't advise what Desktop Environment your using. If your at the console and no desktop there are command line utilities to capture a VT. There is also scrot, and others....

    In gnome

    The application dialogue can be accessed through Alt+F2 ==>
    gnome-screenshot --interactive or through Activities(left win key) ==>
    type screen

    Also shortcuts are
    Save screenshots==> Print
    Screenshots of active windows==> Alt+Print
    To select area(mouse) and then take a screenshot ==> Shif+Print

    on KDE/GNOME
    If you want to edit/highlight parts of screenshots then use a
    specialized tool called shutter.

    The name of the widget attached to prtscr key (in KDE) is ksnapshot. It is awesome.

    So far I haven't come across a desktop environment which does not have a program which uses PrtSc as a shortcut. They all do it slightly differently but the end result is normally usable in a wide range of contexts.

    There is an example at http://bradlug.co.uk/wp-content/uplo...3/KDE_2000.odp of screenshots taken using KSnapshot from 2000 and from 2011.
