Default How to go to a minimal environment in OPENSUSE 12.3, 32 bit desktop PC

    Hi,

I am trying to debug s2ram sleep function on my computer. I find the following link:

    https://en.opensuse.org/SDB:Suspend_to_RAM

    It says:

'boot with init=/bin/bash at the boot prompt'

At GRUB2 menu, I press 'e' key and add one line:
    init=/bin/bash
but I do not see any change with normal boot. It seems that it does not go to minimal environment. Could you help me on the above question? I am new to Linux. Please give me detail procedures if you could.

    Thanks,

That is an emergency procedure and does not give you a running system.
What are you attempting to do with that?

And why couldn't you have simply used:

    https://forums.opensuse.org/blogs/jd...n-level-3-112/

I can see using tinyurl.com for /long/ links but this one hardly
    qualifies as _long_.

Just saying, I hate to click on links that could take you to who knows
where and cause problems. At least provide a clue to where the link
    takes you.

I agree with you, but apparently the forum software is configured to
convert all links to small links, no matter what you actually type.

Fortunately, at least in my case, "tinyurl" show by default as the link
to be expanded, and you have to actually click again to load the final
    target.
