    Default Change default tar behavior

The default tar parameters for OpenSuse 12.3 are:

    Code:
    > tar –show-defaults
    --format=posix -f- -b20 --quoting-style=escape --rmt-command=/usr/lib/rmt --rsh-command=/usr/bin/rsh
How to change the default tar format to gnu?

Recompile from source? Otherwise, create an alias and put the result in
    your ~/.aliases or ~/.bashrc file:

    alias tar='tar #override stuff here'

    Good luck.

    Thank you!

So there is no tar config file..? /etc/defaults/tar maybe?

Alias will do the trick but I see it as a last resort .

The command "rpm -ql tar" would list it, and it doesn't. Otherwise,
check the man/info pages to see if it accepts a config file.
