Default Where are Preferences / settings in Nautilus?

Cannot find how to set preferences of Nautilus [called 'file' by the look of it] in OpenSUSE12.3-64 Gnome 3.6

Found this reference to it on the net, which states that:

After opening Nautilus you need to click on the Nautilus icon on top panel to pull down the various settings / preferences.
However, as can be seen from the screenshot below ... there is NO such icon .. or Menu ... across the top of my instance of Nautilus??

    Anybody any clues as to why not??? ... without that missing 'File' menu, the application is crippled!! .. {no split screen etc}

    ****see - no menu bar****

Thanks for the suggestion caf ... however, i cannot get that to work here! ... below is a screenshot of what appears when i RH click on the LH top corner of the Nautilus interface ..

.. HOWEVER .... if i log onto a KDE session and load Nautilus .. then the menu appears when LH click on the Wheel Icon in the RH corner ... see below. The 'Preferences' menu link appears there!! .. but that does not help me with my Gnome 3.6 setup ...

ALSO ... while i am at it .. looking in the 'Preferences' menu when in a KDE session there is nowhere i can find the SPLIT SCREEN option??? It was there with Nautilus under OS 12.2 - 32 bit ... but i cannot locate it ... surely it has not been removed!!?

    idk

In GNOME 3.6 the preferences are in the top panel as mentioned/shown in my earlier post
The split functionality in Nautilus has been removed in GNOME 3.6

Well .. as it turns out you are right Vaz ... the preferences ARE in the top panel ... but ONLY after the window has been maximized!! . ... viz:

::Nautilus UNmaximized:: NO access to Preferences Menu

    .
    .
    .
::Nautilus MAXimized:: Now has access to Preferences Menu

HOWEVER ... once in the maximized state the window looses its menu for Window Control ... ie ... it cannot be UNmaximized again and hogs the whole screen!!! Even after re-boot!!! [I can see the bug .. it appears to be a window positioning error .. the header of the Nautilus window seems to be hidden under the header of the Desktop ... my guess anyway]

Eventually i found a way to UNmax it .. and that is to use the hot key 'Alt-F5'

But what a mess!! .. eh???

and to now learn that they have removed what is considered by me as it's most useful functionality of all ... the Split Screen ... then its a 'big goodbye' to Nautilus from me!

Try double clicking the title bar

I agree, split screen loss is a big downer.
A lot of the changes made have made work so much more time consuming.

Since copying to functionality now opens a dialogue window with full
menus etc. they have decided to drop split. you can drag and drop
    between two nautilus windows though

It is simple to un-maximize in maximise mode. you just need to
catch/click on the top bar of Nautilus (not the panel) and drag it down

But if the 'top bar of Nautilus' was visible/available to click on and 'grab', as suggested .. then it would be possible to RH click it and get the Window Management menu .. and resize etc.

As can be see from the screenshot dubbed ::Nautilus MAXimized:: above, the 'top bar' is NOT accessible! It is positioned/hidden under the Desktop 'top bar' which contains the menu 'Activities' on the left 'Date/Time' in the centre and 'User Name' on the right!... Hence the window cannot be gabbed and dragged or resized via the standard windows management menu [on my installation at any rate .. brand new install of 12.3-64!]

Not to worry .. i wont be using it anymore .. i will switch to Dolphin.

Thanks for the input Vaz. Much appreciated.
