Thread: User groups

    Default User groups

    Hi,

We're trying to create an educative distribution (Socratex) for 3 to 18 years old children and we need to adapt the user interface to each age group. We need to do three grups of users (with a lot of users each group), with different desktop, apps, wallpaper and different configurations. How can we do it?

    Thanks for all,
    SocrateX Team

I'd create a different user in Linux (in SUSE Studio) for each age group.
Once done, Create a tarball of all of their data (customized backgrounds,
other settings... basically the contents of the /home directory) and place
that in SUSE Studio in your image within /home and then SUSE Studio will
extract that when creating the build. The first time you boot, the users
should be there and their settings should be exactly whatever you setup.

    Good luck.

    -=WELCOME=- new poster!!

this thought might just be a waste of time for you (maybe you have
been there already), so i'll say--hope this helps:

you might wanna also look at the wiki page on the openSUSE Education
    Project, here http://en.opensuse.org/Education (i'm thinking
somewhere, someone has probably met and solved the same problem,
before...and maybe left a trail of bread crumbs!)
