Thread: want online update

  1. #1

    Default want online update

    Hi.
I would do an online update to my opensuse 12.3 system.

It would obviously remove udev, but now it has tried to do since hours.

What could be the reason ?.

    Screendump here.

Also I have recognized, that when I would run yast, I get info to logout/login.

I did that, but couldn't see what happened.

    Please help me, thanks

    /Erik

so, to run in all security patches/updates you just open YaST and
click on Online Update..and accept what is offered (if you want it all)

or, in a root terminal run
    Code:
    zypper patch

    your "screendump" is

i have no idea what you are saying....unless it is that you have
logged into the desktop environment as root....is that what you did?

for more assistance, please show us the terminal output *and* input,
as well as the beginning prompt and exit prompt, from

    Code:
    zypper lr -d
copy/paste the in/output back to this thread using the instructions

It is realy not obvious to me. And as udev is rather essential to the functioing of your system, you better do not remove it.

BTW am NON-Technical still finding my way around...

zypper patch this installs all the available needed patches.

zypper up this updates all packages (or specified package) with newer versions, if possible.

zypper inr this will install any newly added packages recommended by already installed packages.

Self now finds using use zypper easier also this way self makes fewer mistakes, fixing clearer and safer when uninstalling my mistakes, than did with YaST {: -O

Yes, do provide the results from as requested:

    Code:
    zypper lr -d

It is not clear what you are doing from the description.

Are you using a machine translator to write here?

I did not say that to you, I said that to Erik. Who are you?

Please start a new thread with your problem, and leave this one to Erik.

You are not the OP. The output was asked of Erik, not of you.

Besides that, the text is illegible. Please use code tags for printouts
and commands. Advanced editor, '#' button.

Please don't do that, it makes things very confusing. You should ask the
    new one to be removed.

Ok, you need to repost the output of "zypper lr -d" inside code tags.
