    Its difficult to tell in advance. After the update is out, it is another matter.

    Note comment #15 in the bug report I raised: https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=800686 which refers to build service updates for the openSUSE kernel : https://build.opensuse.org/request/show/172496

    IMHO one simply needs to download (but not install) any kernel update rpm, and then check the change history that is inside the rpm, and from that one should be able to read if that kernel has the fix.

    If you immediately install the new 3.7.10-1.4 kernel from openSUSE when you update to 12.3, I think you will find the FX5200 works with the nouveau driver (I can not say the same (yet) for the proprietary nvidia driver).

    I note this from the change history for 3.7.10-1.4 :
    Code:
    * Thu Apr 04 2013 jslaby-at-suse.cz
    - drm/nouveau: Fix typo in init_idx_addr_latched() (bnc#800686).
    - commit 3bb7a0d
    and I updated the kernel to 3.7.10-1.4 on my PC with the FX5200 graphics and the nouveau graphic driver works well with it.

    Thumbs up Re: 12.3 Graphics Malfunction

    Thanks, oldcpu, I will probably try to upgrade 12.2 soon. I did not read your last reply because I didn’t notice this thread had gone to a second page.

    You were right, oldcpu. You did great work. I am in 12.3 now. I used these instructions: SDB:System_upgrade. I am very impressed with the new environment.
