Default Sticky notes lost after upgrade to 12.3

    Hi all,

I just upgraded from 12.2 to 12.3 (very happy I did!). When I re-added the notes applet to my desktop, none of my notes were there. Is there any way that I can recover them?

    Thank you!

Which desktop environment are you using? KDE or Gnome? Something else, perhaps? I can't speak for Gnome but for KDE it is located under ~/.kde4/share/apps/knotes/ it should be labled "notes.ics".

You could do a file search in your home directory for "notes.ics" if it is not in the directory that I specified.

    Hope that helps.
If I am going to be spontaneous, I have to plan for it.

Same thing happened to me. The notes are buried in
~/.kde4/share/config/plasma-desktop-appletsrc. Look for a line that
begins with "autoSaveHtml=<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC" and dig within for your
    data.
Use the find feature of your favorite text editor to find it faster.

Thank you both! Cornflake76's tip ended up getting the data back--for anyone else, google "strip html tags" and use one of the sites to remove the HTML tags, then you can copy and paste into the notes. Then you just have to remove the \n and \t that are there (n for newline, t for tab).

    And I'm using KDE.

Maybe you should report this as a bug in Bugzilla.
