    Default Firefox log me out

    Hello,

I just installed 12.3 64bit. Everything seems fine apart from firefox logging me out of my desktop when I click on the launch icon. I started firefox in CLI and below is what followed:

he reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network connection was broken.
GConf Error: No D-BUS daemon running

(firefox:7987): GConf-WARNING **: Client failed to connect to the D-BUS daemon:
Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network connection was broken.
GConf Error: No D-BUS daemon running

Can someone tell me what this means?

I'm seeing the same problem when I start thunderbird. Regnum online (a game) also sends me to the log in screen when I try to start it. Something is wrong.

A quick search found this suggestion to try. Open up terminal and run these three commands:

    Code:
    export $(dbus-launch)
    export NSS_USE_SHARED_DB=ENABLED
    firefox &
dbus-launch is included in the package dbus-1-x11 and you can open YaST and search on dbus-1 and see that it and several other dbus applications are indeed installed. If the above commands work, it can be made into a bash script to run:

    Code:
    #!/bin/sh
    export $(dbus-launch)
    export NSS_USE_SHARED_DB=ENABLED
    firefox &
Saver the file as ff, in your $HOME/bin folder. And run the terminal command:

    Code:
    chmod +x $HOME/bin/ff
To use, type in the terminal command:

    Code:
    ff
Or create an icon on your desktop to run ff for you.

    Thank You,

Why is this necessary? Shouldn't these applications just work?

    Hi
What desktop environment are you using? FWIW, I have two systems here
and all run fine with firefox, however I use Gnome.

What happens if you create a test user and login, does the same issue
    occur?

    I use kde.

I created a test user and experienced the same problems starting firefox. Opera appears to start without any problems at all. Most confusing.

I heard that Firefox/SeaMonkey will stop accepting third party cookies by default. You may need to manually change this setting.

So I use KDE and Firefox does work OK for me. Did the fix I posted work for you?

The error is d-bus is not starting up and hence we are starting dbus or whatever daemon it is before starting firefox. As simple as that.
As other people have reported that it works for them i would probably think that this is a profile issue / installation issue

I attempted to start firefox with a new profile but the problem persists.

Can you tell me if opera requires d-bus? It starts just fine! That said, opera is a new install, so no related files were present in my home dir before I installed 12.3.
