Thread: Force SU programs to use custom colors?

Default Force SU programs to use custom colors?

Is it possible to force Dolphinsu and other SU instances of programs to use the theme/custom color schemes that all the other programs follow? The glaring white backgrounds are tough on my eyes so I use white on black. Do I need to login as root and change the appearance attributes from there and then return to user mode? Surely this has come up before but I can't find answers in any of my searches.
    thx

Again, the answer is yes, login as root and make the changes and then they show up in su mode.
    That's all.

Sorry to have posted but I tried everything else BUT that.
Maybe it will help somebody else.

People say that you shouldn't log in as root, but I'm not entirely sure why. Running kdesu systemsettings will allow you to change the colors and themes for the root account though.

Wow, that's even better but I had no idea. I imagine most everything can be done or invoked from the CLI but and the commands seem so obvious and logical when I see them but there doesn't seem to be any reference I can find to help me sort and remember them.

There are any number of books and online articles about Linux commands,
if that's what you mean. There are several books in the O'Reilly series
and many others besides. Or type 'linux beginners' into google and you
will find many tutorials. I expect the openSUSE docs include a guide but
I don't know offhand where it is.
