Thread: SUSE 12.2 Installation disks.

    Default SUSE 12.2 Installation disks.

I'm sitting at a desktop at the moment that blocks certain applications so I can't download the iso images from the url software.opensuse.org: Download openSUSE 12.2. Therefore, alternatively if I want to create an installation disk for Suse 12.2 destined for an x86 64bit laptop do I just need the iso files from --->Index of /distribution/12.2/iso ie. files openSUSE-12.2-DVD-x86.iso and those starting openSUSE-12.2-DVD-x86.iso.??? where ??? = (asc,mdf,sha1,sha256,torrent) ie. 6 iso files in total? Check summed and then burnt onto a DVD and then boot from it and that's it? Will this have the software on it that will allow me to create a linux partition on a machine containing windows 7 and allow me to make the machine dual boot? What type of Linux partition should I choose? Thanks in advance.

    the md5's are there too

    Yes, there is a partitioner

You might want to check if you have modern machine with UEFI, it can be trouble

I presume I run the checksum on the downloaded files before burning to DVD and then check them again on the DVD. Yes?

    Just one DVD
    For _64 bit this one:
    http://download.opensuse.org/distrib...DVD-x86_64.iso
    That's it!

Burn it to a DVD, slowly
You can check the media from the menu when it boots too: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/10573557/12...all_choose.png
That's a CD, but the same principle

That makes a bit more sense. I didn't think you could have more than one ISO image on a disk.

Eh, you lost me there? What's this mention of liveCD and graphics files about then? I don't want to run Linux off a CD running in windows.

No, he simply says that the DVD acts the same as the CD in that photo.

On the other hand, the live CD doesn't run in Windows, it runs on its
    own (boot).
