Question FFmpeg support not compiled in Audacity 12.1 and 12.2

I recently updated 12.1 to 12.2 and 11.4 to 12.1 in KDE 64 bit. I did not notice that Audacity was also updated in such a way that I am no longer able to import mp3 files until today. I looked in the Packman repos and it seems that Audacity is up to date according to Yast (1.13.6 beta in 12.1 and 2.0.0 in 12.2). How do I get my hands on an Audacity package with ffmpeg support compiled in?

    Thanks in advance.

Question Re: FFmpeg support not compiled in Audacity 12.1 and 12.2

Can someone familiar with Audacity tell me why is ffmpeg support "temporarily" disabled?

[packages/audacity] - temporarily disabled ffmpeg support

I see a bug report that goes back to July which really worries me because it goes back to July:

    https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/30616

Perhaps, if you are a regular Audacity user, you can tell me how to keep posted on the latest updates on exactly what is happening?

    Thanks in advance

Thumbs up Re: FFmpeg support not compiled in Audacity 12.1 and 12.2

OK, my mistake. I thought I was looking at the Audacity in the Packman repo, but what I had to do was temporarily block the OSS repo, so I could actually see the Audacity with FFmpeg support in the Packman repo. Therefore, it's the Audacity in the OSS repo that is not compiled with FFmpeg support. Live and learn.

As with all multi-media cases, you should "switch to Packman".

Thanks, Henk, it's nice to have you point out those important road signs.
