Trying to test my setup on ChatRoulette using Firefox 17, and it does not detect the Camera. Camera works properly using guvcview, wxcam, and shows in my unconfigured kopete, so it appears the drivers are working.

Any help getting this working online would be greatly appreciated.

With continued testing, and research on the following device, it appears it may not be fully supported. Not sure what I can do for that. It might explain why it's not detecting the webcam in Firefox 17, might also explain when recording in wxcam, or guvcview that it only records video, and not audio.

Sure would be nice to get this working, any troubleshooting suggestion or things that can be passed on to the devs would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not familiar with ChatRoulette at all. However, from reading this thread, it appears that there is a flash permissions issue

Adobe - Flash Player : Settings Manager - Website Privacy Settings panel

    Hope this helps.

Thank you, however flash is configured to allow access to the web cam, and says there is none, however it does detect the mic at the same address.

Well, any issue you have will be with flash. They don't support Linux any longer as you can read here

Flash Player Help | Flash Player Help

Just a thought - perhaps you could also try using the Chrome browser

Interestingly enough I installed the Chrome browser, and thus far it looks like the cam works. Haven't tested audio yet. So it could indeed be flash. Still might deserve more testing because of the results that I have with the recorder/viewers, and or skype. Progress!

    That's good to know.

FWIW, there are a number of Ubuntu threads discussing the same topic eg

I'll look at that in due course, however I have concluded that there is an issue with the mic / audio.

I think it falls fully somewhere in the ALSA / pulseaudio / phonon arena.

    SUSE Paste

Not sure where to go from here. Still diggin'

FYI The Global Setting Manger did not solve anything with Firefox, or at least for me;-)
