Unhappy After update via Yast stuck with libasound segfault error

Yesterday I updated via Yast. However all kind of applications will not start anymore due to a libasound error:

    dmesg:

    Code:
    [ 7872.268669] xbmc.bin[27341]: segfault at 7fff801f7ff8 ip 00007f236c82917e sp 00007fff801f8000 error 6 in libasound.so.2.0.0[7f236c7dc000+da000]
    [ 7905.912153] pulseaudio[27415]: segfault at 7fffdf055ff8 ip 00007fe307d6b17e sp 00007fffdf056000 error 6 in libasound.so.2.0.0[7fe307d1e000+da000]
    In my message log:

    Code:
    Dec 2 22:03:41 htpc01 pulseaudio[27415]: [pulseaudio] pid.c: Stale PID file, overwriting.
    Dec 2 22:03:40 htpc01 kernel: pulseaudio[27415]: segfault at 7fffdf055ff8 ip 00007fe307d6b17e sp 00007fffdf056000 error 6 in libasound.so.2.0.0[7fe307d1e000
    +da000]
    Dec 2 22:03:41 htpc01 pulseaudio[27412]: [pulseaudio] main.c: Daemon startup failed.
I already removed my config files to see if that was jamming, unfortunately not.

Anybody and idea what to do?

It's handy if you post the result of this:

    Code:
    zypper lr -d
Then we can see how far or close your to a stock install

Added htpc01 user to audio group does not help with pulseaudio -v (or do i need to restart more than only pulseaudio)

You have a combination of repos that will create trouble. And you have adjusted priorities ? Who told you that was needed?

    Try removing repo #8 VLC

    Then do this:
    https://dl.dropbox.com/u/10573557/Sw...man_switch.png

    It'll probably 'spit dummy'
But you need to switch packages to Packman

I have the same problem. A work-around is to downgrade libasound2 (and libasound2-32bit) to version 1.0.25-3.5.1 in the Index of /distribution/12.2/repo/oss repository. Version 1.0.26-125.1 in the Index of /repositories/multimedia:/libs/openSUSE_12.2 repository seems to have a bug.

Downgrading libasound indeed solves my problem.
Nevertheless I have got rid of the VLC repo
    Furthermore I deinstalled Libraoffice

Nevertheless I have got rid of the VLC repo
    Furthermore I deinstalled Libraoffice
Getting rid of the VLC repo is probably a good idea. I remember having problems with that at one time. The VLC rpm's are in the packman repo and this can lead to conflicts. It's probably also a good idea to disable the multimedia:/libs repo unless you have a good reason for keeping it. Otherwise yast/zypper will keep trying to upgrade libasound2 with the faulty version.

Check all channels using alsamixer. If that doesn't work, start a new thread, with clear title, state openSUSE version, desktop used etc.
