Thread: YaST software management problem

    Default YaST software management problem

Every time i open YaST software management or try to install any software through YaST it gives me the"Cannot access the installation media" error.
Of course it is asking me to insert my Flash Drive through which i have installed OPEN SUSE 12.2.
Is it necessary to insert my Flash Drive(which is my installation media) every time while installing a software or is this an error?
    Any suggestions?

YaST is asking for the flash drive because that source is still listed
    among the valid repos..

to remove that repo, open YaST and then open Software Repositories...in
the new window that is open look for the repo which is addressed
locally, that is as a file or directory on or connected to your
machine--rather than all the others which are addressed like a distant
web page, like: http://software.etc etc etc etc

find that ONE local repo and single left click on it, and then down
below click to remove the x in the little boxes next to "Enable" and
    "Automatically Refresh"

On The Other Hand: some folks _may_ have expensive to download internet
connections and in that case it might be less expensive to allow the
system to pull from the locally existing download media rather than
    being forced to always download..

In that case we simply copy the DVD somewhere and point to it :-)

    My 2 cents:

    - Remove the repo pointing to the device, that will stop the complaints.
    - You could download the DVD iso, and create a repo from it:
++ Repo manager, Add, Local iso image, point it to the iso, done.
