    I just checked. It is indeed the GeForce 6150 LE

    With 12.3 RC1, the nouveau driver seems to work tolerably well, apart from that disappearing cursor problem. And I'll repeat my "solution" for the disappearing cursor:

    Good call on the DE, dd ... I usually run with them off, but the sneaky lil'devils turned themselves back on .... I kind of suspected that had occurred, given the fancy pants sliding animation that I was now seeing when switching between virtual desktops, though I just hadn't yet checked if that was indeed the case... anyway, prompted by your intuitive suggestion, I now have them turned back off again and the frequent disappearing mouse cursor trick has itself disappeared ... now I'm just back to the infrequent mouse cursor disappearances
