Default LibreOffice repository has old version

How come the LibreOffice repository haven't been updated? It is still the 3.5.4 version in there (almost same version that came with 12.2). Shouldn't the LibreOffice repository contain the latest stable release from LibreOffice? The latest stable version there is 3.6.3.

The openSUSE policy is to not update the OSS and non-OSS repos of a certain version during the lifetime of that version. Only security patches and realy needed other patches are provided through the Update repos. The OSS and non-OSS repos are not changed. This to increase stability.

The next version of openSUSE will then be tested with the newest version of software then available (until a certain closing date) to get a stable new version of openSUSE that is cross tested with all software involved.

When you realy want a new version of a particular package during the lifetime of an openSUSE version (like you seem to be in dire need, for some reason, for LibreOffice 3.6.3), you can search for a repo with that version using software.opensuse.org: Search . (when I go there, I can find that the official openSUSE 12.2 is LibreOffice 3.5.4.7, that there is a stable 3.5.4.13 and an unstable 3.6.2.2.1).

I also need to see if 3.6.3 fixes several bugs in 3.6.2 when it comes to
numbers formatting under table. These are a regression since this
problem was correct in earlier versions. Wil try and report bug today
    with 3.6.2.
if someone really needs 3.6.3 download it from LbireOffice directly and
in stall it. I installed it yesterday from the rpms avaiable at:

    Code
    -------
    http://www.libreoffice.org/download/
    /Code
    -------
It installs into /opt so it can be installed in parallel with older
version from SUSE repo's. I could not find 3.6.3 using the SUSE search.

I'm not talking about the OSS and non-OSS repositories. Those I don't expect to be updated with the latest and greatest.
However I was talking about the LibreOffice repository from the Additional package repositories. Isn't that supposed to contain the latest stable version from LibreOffce? Just like the other repositories in the Additional* contain the latest of theirs.

    From LibreOffice web page:
    LibreOffice 3.6.3 Final (2012-11-01)

This is the fourth release from the 3.6 branch of LibreOffice.
It contains many exciting new features, and is the recommended version for home and corporate users.
    Although:
    LibreOffice 3.5.7 Final (2012-10-18)

This is the eighth release from the 3.5 branch of LibreOffice.
It is a well-matured stable release, and thus the recommended version for all conservative private and corporate users.
If the latter is the version that LibreOffice OpenSuse repository is aiming at it is still 0.0.3 versions behind.

This question has been asked before, and the maintainer of that repo
responded. In the opensuse mail lists.

    .
I do not know what the maintainers there promised to do.
I see three people (users) in: https://build.opensuse.org/project/u...ffice%3AStable
But I am not that fluid with the procedures there to explain to you how you could ask them.

my understanding is that the latest version as released by LO is *not*
moved into _any_ openSUSE repo until it has been _packaged_ for
openSUSE, and tested at least a little bit...

therefore, you should never expect the original LO release to appear in
an openSUSE repo at great speed..

if you need the newest you are welcome to fetch it from LO, or wait
patiently until it arrives in an openSUSE repo..

if you wish not to be patient, perhaps you would like to become part of
the volunteer team who packages and test LO for openSUSE..

Well I do not read the OpenSuse mailing lists... If it has not been responded on this forum it doesn't matter. Least not to me.

It has a web archive, search it. The maintainer is not likely to come
here, and his answer is authoritative.

Well I took a look at the archive. I have no intention to browse through over 4000 post (searched for LibreOffice).
Do you have the name of this maintainer, or better yet a hint at any specific post to read?

The link hcvv gave list 3 people with the LibreOffice repository.
