Avidemux crashes system - powers off

Hi
I have OpenSuse 12.2, KDE 4.8.5
I am trying to do something in Avdemux but every time I use it (I want to imprint subtitles) it crashes whole system - it powers it off somehow.
It happens after some job is done, lets say one minute or something. No warning.
Any clue how to solve my problem?

Installed and ran, but I cannot get it to work. Segfaults.

Does it crash with a message, or just turns off the computer?
If the last, it could be overheating, and the bios shuts down the system to avoid a burn out. Just guessing.

At this moment I don’t remember if it is the case, but some video handling software have an option
to power off the machine when they finish processing.

I know about the option to switch off when job done - it is not that case. It happens in the middle (while working) of the job.
And it gives no messages and no warnings, or at least I do not see them.
I do not suspect overheating. I used it before on the same hardware, different system (Debian). I have 4 cores and usually they work below 25%. But I will check that.

I have just checked CPU usage when it runs. All 4 cores go on 100% so brunomcl could be right. It can be overheating.
How to be sure and how to change it?

Did you use parallel processing in avidemux on the Debian version? If
not try it, don’t rely on whatever is the arbitrary default. It will use
all your cores at almost 100%. Your system should handle that without
problems if it is not dusty and hardware is ok. It is a good stress test.

You could open a terminal and run

watch sensors

if you have sensors installed and configured and watch how far it goes
up while converting a video.

Hi
I have checked that sensors and it was overheating issue.
The problem was this: few days ago I cleaned and dusted whole computer. I check grease on cpu and removed it because it was old. I did not think it necessary to replace it.
But as it appear it was that - the lack of grease.
So I bought a new grease, put it on my cpu and it works!
The temperature is ok now and avidemux does not crash system.

thanks for all help
