    Default OpenSuse 12.2 and upgrade to KDE 4.9

    Upgrade to KDE 4.9 did not go as smooth on OpenSuse 12.2 as it did for 12.1.
    There are some packages that are missing from the OpenSuse 12.2 KDE 4.9 repo that makes it troublesome to upgrade.

    kdepim4-runtime
    kactivities4
    libkactivities6
    kwrite
    gwenview
    kio_kamera
    libkipi8

    None of these packages exist in the KDE 4.9 repo for OpenSuse 12.2 and therefore are only in version 4.8.5 Upgrading KDE to 4.9.1 complains on missing kdepim4-runtime for several other packages.

    I previously installed OpenSuse 12.2 and successfully upgraded to KDE 4.9 without these problems. When I go in and check in YAST for that previous installation, I see that my kdepim4-runtime package has been downgraded from 4.9.1 to 4.8.5. The same goes for the other packages. What has happened?

    Did you do: sudo zypper refresh, sudo zypper dup? You need to use dup because you are changing packages from one repo to another.

    I am using YAST GUI, but nonetheless all repos have been refreshed.
    It doesn't change the fact that those packages I listed are not in KDE 4.9 repo anymore.

    On september 29 there was an update in this repository and it looks like an preparation to KDE 4.9.2, but I do not understand why these packages have been removed.

    martinh@ganymed:~> rpm -qi kdepim4-runtime | grep Distribution
    Distribution: KDE:Release:49 / openSUSE_12.2
    kdepim4-runtime is 4.9.1 as I would expect it.

    Checked out too, because I saw some "red packages" that seemed odd to me. The content of the repo is not complete currently.

    ° Perfection is not gonna happen. No way.

    Yes looks really like a full rebuild in preparation for an update, so
    the packages should be back when it is fully rebuilt I would guess.

    Sure hope so.

    Anyway would be nice if they could issue some statement about it somewhere, letting us know for sure.

    Looks like it is falling into place right now. KDE 4.9.2 has been release into the repository.

    However there is one thing I noticed. The OpenSuse branding packages will be marked (or must be marked) for removal since it is in conflict. Instead we get the regular upstream branding.
    kdebase4-workspace-branding-opensuse --> kdebase4-workspace-branding-upstream
    kdelibs4-branding-opensuse -> kdelibs4-branding-upstream
    kdm-branding-opensuse -> kdm-branding-upstream

    If I go for this change what will be consequences be?
