Default How to locate a file containing some specific font?

Under my openSUSE 11.4 I have a font that I like very much. I would like to have that font on my new suse 12.2 on another computer, but I am unable to find it in repositories. The question is how do I locate font file on my linux so I can copy it? I know that fonts are located under folders specified in /etc/fonts/fonts.conf and /etc/fonts/conf.d/. However directories like /usr/share/fonts contain a lot of files and I am unable to tell which file contains the font I'm interested in. Any help is greatly appreciated. I am using KDE3 and its built in font manager.

Do you not even know the name of the font?

In KDE System settings and going down to the fonts management, click all fonts until you see the one you want in the example field.

The font name is normal part of the name of the file(s) connected to it. Thus either serach the whole system or /etc/fonts, or ... with the normal tools (like find, but maybe you prefer something from the GUI) using wild cards.

    That would be my way.

I know the font name - it's Nimbus (Sans/Serif etc) and I know that it is a PostScript font, not TrueType. I tried searching the file system with no result :/

    On my openSUSE 11,4 system:
    Code:
    boven:/usr/share # find . -name '*imbus*'

That's interesting. I didn't notice that the Nimbus fonts were not present in 12.2

Can't say I'm sad to see it gone. I hated that font and the way it substituted itself into any helvetica requirement on Opensuse.
