    Default Audacity will not open.

Hello, i install Audacity the other day, and it will not start. When i open it in the konsole, i get the following.
    Code:
ALSA lib pcm.c:2212:(snd_pcm_open_noupdate) Unknown PCM cards.pcm.rear ALSA lib pcm.c:2212:(snd_pcm_open_noupdate) Unknown PCM cards.pcm.center_lfe ALSA lib pcm.c:2212:(snd_pcm_open_noupdate) Unknown PCM cards.pcm.side ALSA lib pcm_dmix.c:957:(snd_pcm_dmix_open) The dmix plugin supports only playback stream Cannot connect to server socket err = No such file or directory Cannot connect to server socket jack server is not running or cannot be started Expression 'stream->capture.pcm' failed in 'src/hostapi/alsa/pa_linux_alsa.c', line: 3857 (audacity:3187): GdkPixbuf-WARNING **: Error loading XPM image loader: Image type 'xpm' is not supported (audacity:3187): Gdk-CRITICAL **: IA__gdk_drawable_get_size: assertion `GDK_IS_DRAWABLE (drawable)' failed (audacity:3187): Gdk-CRITICAL **: IA__gdk_drawable_get_depth: assertion `GDK_IS_DRAWABLE (drawable)' failed (audacity:3187): GdkPixbuf-WARNING **: Error loading XPM image loader: Image type 'xpm' is not supported (audacity:3187): Gdk-CRITICAL **: IA__gdk_drawable_get_size: assertion `GDK_IS_DRAWABLE (drawable)' failed (audacity:3187): Gdk-CRITICAL **: IA__gdk_drawable_get_depth: assertion `GDK_IS_DRAWABLE (drawable)' failed (audacity:3187): Gdk-CRITICAL **: IA__gdk_drawable_get_image: assertion `GDK_IS_DRAWABLE (drawable)' failed (audacity:3187): Gdk-CRITICAL **: IA__gdk_image_get_colormap: assertion `GDK_IS_IMAGE (image)' failed (audacity:3187): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: g_object_unref: assertion `G_IS_OBJECT (object)' failed The program 'audacity' received an X Window System error. This probably reflects a bug in the program. The error was 'BadAlloc (insufficient resources for operation)'. (Details: serial 1724 error_code 11 request_code 53 minor_code 0) (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously; that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it. To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)
Does anyone know what's wrong? thnaks

You will need to provide some more info, such as: Version of openSUSE; what desktop (KDE/Gnome); does your sound card work with other audio apps (give examples); what repository supplied your version of audacity and what version is it? Plus anything that you think might also be useful.

Your problem has not been seen on this PC.

running from a terminal the output is as follows; for loading file, then playing,
    then exiting without saving

suggest you download one of the scripts: mmcheck or soundtest
to find out what you are missing

    Code:

ALSA lib pcm.c:2212:(snd_pcm_open_noupdate) Unknown PCM cards.pcm.side
