Great, thanks - I'll pass these headers along and see if that helps us
    track anything.

    Today's hangs using Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:14.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/14.0

I haven't had any hangs using Firefox 12.0, installed from YaST. Unfortunately I can't test the latest Firefox 13.0 release, because on last check it wasn't available in the update repository for openSUSE 12.1.

Firefox 14.0 is installed, and updated manually.

Why don't you try the one from mozilla repo ?
    Index of /repositories/mozilla/openSUSE_11.4

I'm using 13.0 from this repo and didn't experience a crash yet. To be true I never had a crash with the previous builds from this repo.
    Best regards,

Haven't had any crashes with Firefox from this site. Just intermittent real slow page page loading. The only one of my 30 site daily routine to exhibit this behavior.

Both Firefox and Thunderbird from the suggested repository are dated 21-April-2012. I wouldn't exactly call those the latest release versions. If they aren't going to be updated, even though there are security fixes, no biggie as I only install the release versions trough YaST to troubleshoot problems, and provide support.

I use the Betas, Aurora, and Nightly builds installed manually.

I know Thunderbird 14.0b1 hasn't been released yet, but shouldn't that repo be providing Firefox 14.0b6?

Maybe it is time for me to become a distro hopper, and explore other Linux distros.

Exploration is always good. I had worse firefox update experience with ubuntu than with openSUSE but that was around ubuntu version 8.10.

I have found the forum excruciatingly slow for some time now. I'm using Chrome 20.1032, although that has just been installed as an update. This is the only regular site that is as slow as this.

How do you define "for some time now"? (Specific timeframes are more
    helpful to diagnosis)

If you could open the Chrome developer tools (ctrl+shift+I) and load the
page, have a look at the headers and report back what the processingtime,
via, and date headers (after the page has finished loading), that would
    be very helpful.

    Thanks,

    Jim
